Our Mission: The Cheney High School Counselors' mission is to work collaboratively with administration, faculty, parents, students, and the community. Our objective is to provide all students with consistent comprehensive guidance that includes individual planning, individual and small group counseling, and classroom guidance. It is our goal to help students grow in their academic, personal/social, and career development. As a result of our program, students will be better equipped to learn at their fullest potential, meet academic challenges, and be prepared for a lifetime of continued learning.

Mental Health Resources

Cheney High School is comprised of 4 professional school counselors who work with their students and families. Our counselors can assist with crisis intervention, suicide prevention, individual counseling, group counseling, college and career guidance, and referrals.

Collegebound Scholarships
Seniors who signed up in middle school for the Collegebound Scholarship are now eligible to receive the Collegebound Scholarship if the student meets the following requirements:

Graduate from a Washington State high school or approved home school program with a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher.
Have no felony convictions.
Apply for financial aid by completing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or WASFA (Washington Application for State Financial Aid) beginning their senior year.

Complete the form - you can find your GPA on your transcript on Schoolinks
Disperse to teachers, coaches, community members, etc. whom you think would be able to write you a positive letter of recommendation.
Be as detailed as possible. You are providing information for someone to write about you. The more information you provide, the more detailed your letter will be.

The advantages of competing in college sports are both immediate and life long. Participating in college sports provides opportunities to learn, compete and succeed. Student-athletes receive top-notch academic support, quality medical care and regular access to outstanding coaching, facilities and equipment. Student-athletes as a group graduate at higher rates than their peers in the general student body and feel better prepared for life after college.
