Basic mathematical skills are an essential prerequisite for university acceptance and for success in careers. With this in mind, it is strongly recommended that students’ knowledge of numbers be broadened by an in-depth study in math courses at the high school level. It is further suggested that, if students start a sequence of courses, the sequence be completed. Math placements are made based on MAP scores, State Assessments, grades, and teacher recommendations.
