The Spanish Club at Cheney High School is currently sponsoring two children through Childfund. One is a girl in Brazil and the other a little boy in Bolivia. Aside from the sponsorship, they do a lot for kids and people who live in poverty. This year they have sent money for two nurses to be trained to work in small villages in Africa. They have also bought a starter farm for a family and mosquito nets for people in areas infested by mosquitoes. Things they have bought with the money they make from our quesadilla sales: water filters for schools in Africa, bicycles for a girls in Africa who live miles away from a school, sewing machines for women in Asia to start their own business, fruit trees for families in Central America, shoes for kids in Asia, chickens, goats and pigs for families in the Third World. Whenever they can they donate money that goes to support children in poverty. Way to mobilize a group a students to make a difference!

They took first place and took every category, except one, against bands in their division the morning of October 15. In the finals, where they competed against much larger bands in the Open Division, they took 3rd place! Be sure to congratulate all of our band, color guard, and staff!
